Community Update - Coronavirus

SOCIAL DISTANCING ANDSAFETY: REMOTE OFFICE AND VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES

Based on recommendations from public health officials and our Governor related to social distancing, here are a few of the steps we are taking to ensure the health and well-being of our staff and community.

We are transitioning our operations to mostly virtual platforms. Foundation staff will temporarily work remotely, maintaining normal business hours, starting March 17. Rather than conducting in-person individual or group meetings, we will use email, cell phones and ZOOM video calls to connect regularly with all our constituencies. If you do not know the cell number (or direct line) of the person you are seeking, please call our main office at 860-523-7460, follow the prompts to leave a message, and we’ll get back to you in a timely fashion.

Smart Investing in Strange Markets, the presentation we are hosting by financial expert Michael Miller from Colonial Consulting (www.colonialconsulting.com), will be held virtually by video conference and audio call, on April 1st from 12:00pm – 1:30pm EST. To participate, please RSVP by March 20 to Madison Leighty – mleighty@jcfhartford.org.

Our giving circles, JewGoodHartford and the Lillian Fund, have postponed their events for March and April. However, each giving circle communicates through its social media channels: @lillianfundjcf and @jewgoodhartford. Both giving circles are gearing up for their annual grant-making decisions. For more information, contact ElanaMacGilpin – emacgilpin@jcfhartford.org.

We encourage all of our friends to closely monitor updates and review valuable health and safety resources from the State ofConnecticut and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as your local health departments.

FUNDHOLDERS &DONORS: GRANTS & INVESTMENT PERFORMANCE

Any grants submitted to the Foundation by fundholders online via Donor Central or via email toMichael Elfenbaum - melfenbaum@jcfhartford.org, will be processed and delivered as quickly as possible. Please limit mailing us paper grant recommendation forms if possible.

As global markets experience volatility, we want to assure fundholders and nonprofit endowment partners that the Foundation maintains a well-diversified portfolio focusing on yielding healthy long-term returns, while sustaining the immediate well-being of our community. Our Investment Committee, comprised of local finance professionals and members of our Board of Directors, will continue to monitor our investments closely.
