Josh and Shanna Gottfried are on a philanthropic mission to elevate children out of poverty by investing in their education. Proud residents of downtown Hartford for 15 years, they opened a new fund at the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford that will provide neighborhood youth with options they may not have access to, such as studying at private schools and working with tutors to improve their academic performance.
“We feel fortunate for what we have and want to help underserved children pursue a better life,” say Shanna and Josh, who just bought a house on Terry Road. “Surrounding children with great people and educational options will break the poverty cycle and strengthen the community where we live.”
Josh and Shanna will support their education fund with a legacy gift. “I trust the people who work at the Jewish Community Foundation to be stewards of our legacy,” explains Josh. “They take their commitment to philanthropy very seriously.”
